Bloggy Blogdem

SOOOOORRRRRRY for taking so long I got a little lazy.

Anyhosens it's been a nice likkle while here in Chisasibi. It is freakin' cold here, I have pulled out my winter jacket and it is in daily use. Work is fairly borbor but what can you do? I'm slowly learning some cree words/understanding their conversations.

Last Saturday the group headed over to Fort George, which can also be known as Old Chisasibi. It's about 10km from here on an island. About 30 years ago they picked up most of the town and hauled it over to the mainland because the construction of the HydroQuebec Dam threatened to flood and submerge the island. Alas, it did not flood or submerge so they all go there now to camp and be free because there are no rules over there. We met a family there and they were building something (I forget what it was) and carving up a partridge for dinner. It was gross and intriguing at the same time. We also explored the island by foot/Katimavan and had a sort of campfire with wet wood on a beach and it was cold and Anna claims that she saw a seal but no one else was there.
AH! It's the group on the barge over to Fort George!

A very very old gravestone in the cemetary on the island.

Okay, so Monday was mah birthday!!! It was pretty cool, aside from missing everyone at home :( But everyone here was so nice and got me really funny presents/candy and we had a great day at the beach having a sand castle competition. When I say beach, by the way, forget the swimsuits and sunscreen and add the long johns and sweaters. So the sand castles were SOOOO cool. Rachelle and Kayla burried Karl in the sand as a castle; Charles, Marjo and Monicka made this beautiful garden sanctuary type thing; Marc, Anna and Stephan made a HUGE turtle destroying LG1; and Kalleena, Garret and myself just made a random thing with trees and rocks and a mini michuap. I'd post pictures but it's kind of a pain in the ass so I'll make a picture blog later. Oh and on Monday night we had thanksgiving dinner and we all dressed up really pretty and had a fancy dinner complete with British accents.

The rest of the week was boring aside from an intense game of Shirades last night and a little Welcome party that was long overdue on Wednesday that was pretty cool but hardly anyone showed up because I suppose they have better things to do. I'll do a picture blog later. OH and tomorrow we're building a wintercamp. We were going to make a Michuap (teepee) but I wasn't listening either way it's a wintercamp now and we're going to sleep in it in the middle of winter...HYAY

k peace
